Course Description

  • To develop creativity, the ability to appreciate music and to effectively communicate through music.

  • To nurture aesthetic sensitivity and cultural understanding.

  • To develop music skills, construct knowledge in music, and cultivate positive values and attitudes.

  • To gain enjoyment and satisfaction through participating in music activities

  • To pursue a life-long interest in and the valuing of music.

 

Course Features

  • Guide students progressively to identify, understand and apply different music concepts through permeating these concepts in the integrated activities of creating, performing and listening.

  • Explore and engage in creative activities using music softwares such as GarageBand, Song maker and iMovie on computers or tablets in music lessons, enhancing their ability to apply music technology.

  • Through singing songs and hymns, we enable students to understand the relationship between music and life, and learn to appreciate the essence of life.

  • Set up an Inter-class singing competition on Music Day allows every Form 1 to Form 3 student to have the opportunity to perform on stage. Through these performances, students can improve their singing skills and boost their confidence. It also helps in fostering teamwork and cooperation among students.

Course Objectives

  • Adhering to the school's educational mission, we emphasize the holistic development of spirituality, morality, intelligence, physical fitness, group interaction, and aesthetics.
  • Teachers strive to keep pace with the times, continuously enhance their own value, and cultivate a professional spirit to serve as role models for students.
  • We aim to cultivate students' environmental awareness, promoting an understanding of the crucial relationship between the natural environment and human society. Students are encouraged to practice thrift, uphold public morality, care for society, cherish their country, and promote national spirit, demonstrating the courage and determination to contribute to the construction of a prosperous future society.

Curriculum Framework

The curriculum is structured to enable students to learn through three domains: visual art appreciation, visual art creation, and knowledge of visual arts. This framework aligns with the objectives of the visual arts curriculum, which are:

  • Cultivating creativity and imagination.

  • Nurturing the ability to appreciate art.
  • Understanding the context of art.

 

School-based Curriculum Design Features

  • In regular classroom settings, students learn about various visual elements and organizational principles through different media for creative expression.
  • By introducing students to various artists and art movements, we cultivate their ability to appreciate art, develop visual perception, aesthetic sensibilities, and general competencies.
  • Utilizing information technology for learning, students engage in data collection, artwork appraisal, and exchange of creative experiences through electronic platforms and applications.
  • In line with our school motto, we create a positive learning atmosphere to enhance students' self-confidence, foster their autonomy in learning, and promote a sense of academic achievement.
  • We broaden students' exposure to different aspects of art, fostering their creativity and imagination through theme-based courses.
