Our school specially arranged a post-examination "Putonghua and Chinese Culture" activity for Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 students. Combining hands-on craft experiences with interactive games, the event allowed students to appreciate Chinese culture in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, while reinforcing their Putonghua listening, speaking, and communication skills.
The event featured a traditional dough figurine craft workshop, where students could create traditional handicrafts with their own hands and subtly experience the cultural heritage carried by traditional Chinese craftsmanship. In addition, several culture-themed booth games were set up across the venue for students to participate in and interact with one another.
Whether sculpting dough figurines or participating in the various booth games, students were encouraged to converse and exchange ideas entirely in Putonghua throughout the venue. Through real-life dialogues, students refined their language proficiency, accumulated expressive experience, and progressively built up their confidence in expressing themselves fluently in Putonghua.
By placing equal emphasis on hands-on creation, fun games, and oral conversation, this activity not only allowed students to unwind after their examinations, but also deepened their understanding of traditional Chinese culture, successfully achieving the educational goal of blending learning with leisure.
